Week Seven: Big Brother!!! On Ice

Welcome, housemates. We're down to the final six, and the penultimate weekly task. This week we are going to be ice skating! Since there are six competitors in the Grand Prix Final and there are six of you, we will be using roughly the same format as that competition.

There are two parts to the competition: the short program and the free skate. On Monday and Tuesday we will be concentrating on the short program. This is, true, to its name, a short program (maximum of 2 minutes 50 seconds). Pick a piece of music, a costume to wear, and a description of what jumps, spins, etc. you want to include in the program and where in the song they fit in. It is assumed you will hit all your jumps but if you want to mess some of them up for dramatic effect include that too. No actual knowledge of figure skating terminology is required, but it can earn you bonus points.

You have 48 hours to complete this until we close submissions and move onto the free skate.

For my short program, I have chosen Danny Kaye's 'Outfox the Fox' (from the brilliant film The Court Jester):




For my costume I will wear The Black Fox's costume, as seen in the video: 
(For anyone worrying about how I'll cope with the cloak while skating, have no fear -- I will hold it elegantly over my arm thus  for any parts of my routine which could tangle my cloak up with my skates).

I can't find any fancy gifs for what I have in mind but what i plan to do is
look like i am skating around and around in a circle, faster and faster and faster
shaved ice flying around in all directions

when the final outro chord of the song starts I jump up into the air
spinning around
and land on my back in the middle of the circle

only it turns out it wasn't a circle, it was a heart shape
I have carved a deep heart shape in the ice
and now I have landed I flail my arms and legs all around ferociously


Then I get up and bow and leave the arena
leaving this in the ice. (well, this but better photoshopped)

My costume is Electra Heart 


and pom poms too
So the intro I'd be like skating around and kind of doing pom pom stuff.  The first trick thing I'll do is right after "I'm the girl you die for" and matching with the guitar strum I'd do like a spinny jump, trying to land it during the second guitar chord.  Then another similar jump at "So pull me closer and kiss me hard"  Then during the chorus it's mostly swervy skating while pumping the pom poms in the air, but after each "Bubble gum magee" I do like a jump where I kind of do the splits in the air.  I guess lazily the second verse and chorus again would mostly follow the same pattern, except the part where she goes 'welcome to the life of, Electra Heart" I like put my hands in the air in recognition of myself.  Then the bridge I'd do like some slow calculated skating because it's building to the guitar solo, at which point I do like that thing where you spin on the ground for a lot of it.  Then the chorus is just more skating around with a couple more midairs splitsy jumps but at the very last note I stop in the middle and do like the cheerleader one hand in the air, one hand on my hip thing ,and then smile to all the applause.

My costume is a classic Yuzuru Hanyu number


OK. So my performance will open with me skating through a bunch of curtains that lift to reveal me skating in. For the first verse I'll be doing some subdued gliding and little twirls, that speak volumes about my grace and poise, to let the judges know how perfect my skating is. Leading into the chorus I'll be in a twirl that slows down, and as the first note of the chorus hits, suddenly break into a flurry of leaps and complicated spins. For the second verse, I'll slow my pace, but maintain fierce elegance that lets u know I'm a competitor. There'll be a bit of this limbo like move that really makes you question how my balance is so perfect. Then for the next chorus, just like pretty chill skating, so like even though everyone has been anticipating a hyper wow chorus they just appreciate the sharpness of my skating instead. For the whole bridge, an uninterrupted spin that gets faster and faster, until the last chorus where it apexes, and then a series of even more complicated spins, jumps and twists ensues, including a backflip, from which some backwards skating ensues. I finish by dramatically tumbling into a heap like a swan that has been shot. The end ♡

I figured why have just one skater () when you can have all the most talented skaters on the planet

So I gathered them all and they each take turns doing their signature move in a flurry of motion and beauty

Also there will be a live orchestra playing 'Blue Danube'

On to part two!

Now it is time for your free skate. This is a lot like your first, except that the song is a maximum of 4 minutes 30 seconds (for the men's division at least. For some sexist bullsalsa reason the women's is only 4 minutes, but since you all are not actually skating and don't have to worry about stamina and Bun is the only woman here anyway I'm giving the 4 minutes 30 seconds to everyone). Pick another costume, music, and routine. Also for reasons that I'm going to pretend are wise and on purpose but that are really more like it just slipped my mind earlier, you all should pick a theme (a word or short phrase) that at least loosely tie in to both of your programs. You have about 49 hours 15 minutes to complete this part of the task.

and ice skating along it as I go.

My overall theme is 'Danny Kaye songs because he's amazing'. It was going to be 'foxes' and I was going to use Taylor Swift's 'I Know Places' for my free skate but I couldn't find a good quality link so I have changed the theme. 

Anyway, my costume for this one will start out like this:


And then at the point when the Ugly Duckling is revealed to be a swan, I will spin round and round (as you'll see in a moment) and my costume will transform into this:

I've just now decided (of course this was really completely intended all along) that my theme is going to be officially titled "their trying really hard ok"

For my Free Skate I have for you an excitable tiny girl free skating to 'In the Hall of the Mountain King'

My costume is the one in the middle


During the beginning I'm just kind of skating around until she goes "cuz the past aint kind and the future scares me" where i kind of slow down and go on one knee, but like putting a hand in the air kind of gliding, i dont know how to describe it well.  "Never really was the talking type" *small jump* "Til i stumbled on some crazy nights" small jump* "What in the world was I thinking when I said hello, oooo" during that line I'm in the middle of the rink and doing that spin thing on the ground.  
Then the chorus I do like a cool jumping spin during "trying to kill time" as well as "Everything is passing you bye"  
In the second verse I'm mostly skating around, except when she goes "SOOOOOUR CANDY" I have to make sure I'm skating backwards slowly but as soon as the words are over I'm skating fast again.  
The rest of that verse and chorus are the same as discussed before.  The guitar solo is where I go the craziest, doing a few spinning twists and skating around all cool, but as it keeps building I just keep adding more tricks and stuff, then it builds into the main chorus again where I'm mostly skating around with my hands above my head in a victorious pose. 

And my unifying theme is sweets.
